Create a PDF from text

Write or paste text and get a clean, properly laid out PDF.

Your text

A blank line starts a new paragraph. Nothing else is interpreted, so a line beginning with a hash stays a line beginning with a hash — paste an email or a code snippet and it arrives as written. Drop a .txt file anywhere on this page to load it.

Preview

Nothing to preview yet. What you write appears here as it will be laid out.

This is what the PDF will contain, not where its lines and pages will break — only the layout engine decides that, and it does so against the page size you chose.

What to know about Create PDF

Write or paste what you need and get a properly laid out PDF — sensible margins, lines that wrap, pages that break in the right places, and text that stays selectable. No account and no watermark, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Most "create a PDF" tools online are trying to be a word processor in a browser tab, and most of them are not very good at it. The toolbar has thirty buttons, the output has a watermark unless you sign up, and the thing you actually wanted — a page of text that looks like a document rather than a screenshot of a text file — took four minutes instead of ten seconds.

This page does the small version of that job properly. You give it text; it gives you a laid-out PDF.

Laid out is the operative word, and it is most of the value. The text is measured against the page width and wrapped on word boundaries, with a word longer than the whole measure — a URL, usually — broken by character rather than allowed to run off the edge. Paragraphs are separated by space rather than by a blank line's worth of nothing. Pages break when the text runs out of room and a new page starts at the top margin, never with an inherited gap. It is not typesetting — there is no hyphenation, no justification and no widow control — but it is the difference between a document and a text file with a .pdf extension.

The output is real text. That sounds obvious and is not: a large share of the tools answering this query render a web page and screenshot it, so what you download is a picture of your words. It cannot be searched, cannot be copied, cannot be read by a screen reader, and goes blurry when zoomed. Here the words are written into the page with a font, which is what makes a PDF a document.

Nothing you type is interpreted, and that is a decision rather than a missing feature. The text people paste into a box like this is email, notes, log output, quoted messages and code — all of it full of characters that mean something in a markup language and nothing in the original. A line beginning with a hash stays a line beginning with a hash. If you want structure, Markdown to PDF is the page for it, and it uses the same layout engine, so the two produce documents that look like they came from the same place.

One real limitation, stated plainly: Latin script only. The standard PDF fonts encode WinAnsi, and Devanagari, CJK, Cyrillic, Greek and Arabic fall outside it. Drawing those needs a font embedded in the file with the right glyphs and, for several of those scripts, correct shaping as well — which is a real piece of engineering, not a checkbox. So the tool names the characters it cannot draw and stops, rather than accepting the job and producing a page of question marks.

Nothing you type is transmitted or stored. There is no account, no draft on a server, and no autosave anywhere but your own screen — which matters more than it sounds for a box people paste resignation letters, medical notes and legal drafts into.

How to create a PDF from text

  1. 1

    Write or paste your text

A blank line starts a new paragraph. Nothing else is interpreted, so your text arrives as you wrote it.

  2. 2

Add a title if you want one

It is drawn as a heading at the top of the first page and set as the document's title.

  3. 3

    Choose the page

A4 or US Letter, with a text size and margin to suit. The preview updates as you go.

  4. 4

    Download the PDF

The document is built in your browser and saved straight to your device.

What Create PDF accepts and produces

Input
Text you type or paste, and an optional title.
Output
A PDF at A4 or US Letter with real, selectable text on every page.
Limits
Plain text only — nothing in what you type is interpreted, so there is no bold, no bullets and no tables. Latin script only, because the standard PDF fonts cannot draw anything else. Markdown to PDF is the page to use if you want headings and lists.
Offline
Yes, entirely, after your first visit.

Why Create PDF here

  • No account, no watermark, no page limit
  • Real text on the page — selectable, searchable and copyable, not a picture
  • Lines wrap and pages break properly, however much you paste
  • Nothing in your text is reinterpreted, so a pasted email stays as written
  • What you type never leaves the browser — no draft is stored or transmitted

Where your file goes

Nowhere. This tool runs inside your browser, and the page is served with a policy that forbids it from sending your document anywhere. You can confirm that yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, watch the Network tab, and process a file.

Questions

Is there a watermark or a page limit?

Neither. There is no account, no trial, and nothing added to the output. The whole thing runs in your browser, so there is no per-document cost to us and therefore nothing to meter.

Can I make text bold, or add bullet points?

Not here — this page takes plain text and lays it out. Markdown to PDF is the page for structure: write **bold**, `# headings` and `- bullets` in Markdown and they come out formatted. Splitting it this way keeps this page's promise simple, which is that what you paste is what you get.

Why did my line starting with # not become a heading?

Because nothing you type is interpreted. That is deliberate: people paste emails, code snippets, notes and quotes into this box, and text like that is full of characters that mean something in a markup language. Silently promoting a line to a heading because it happened to start with a hash is a surprise rather than a convenience. Use Markdown to PDF when you do want that behaviour.

Will my text be selectable in the PDF?

Yes. The words are written into the page as real text with a real font, so they can be selected, copied, searched and read aloud by a screen reader, and they stay sharp at any zoom. This is not a picture of text, which is what tools that render a web page to an image produce.

Can I write in Hindi, Chinese or Arabic?

Not yet. The standard PDF fonts encode a character set covering Latin script and its accents, and drawing anything outside it needs a font with those glyphs embedded — plus correct shaping for Indic and Arabic script, which is a substantial piece of work rather than a setting. The tool tells you which characters it cannot draw rather than accepting them and writing question marks.

Is what I type stored or sent anywhere?

No. There is no draft saved to a server, no autosave to an account, and no request carrying your text. The document is assembled by a worker inside this tab. Open the network panel while you type and build — nothing goes out, and the whole page works with the network switched off.

How long can the document be?

As long as you like, within reason — the layout pages the text automatically, so a hundred paragraphs become however many pages they need. Very large inputs are limited only by your device's memory, since the work happens there rather than on a server.
